On the National Register of Historic Places, we are within walking distance of Canton Square. Canton is home to the Canton Flea Market and 20 minutes from Jackson.
Named Heart's Content by the original owners, Annie and L.P. Hossley in 1903, the lovely 2.5 story Colonial Revival is now on the National Historic Registry. It sits beautifully on the corner of Peace and Lyon streets in the heart of Canton's historic residential district. The exterior features a wrap around porch with fluted Doric columns, a semi-circular entrance with a double leaf door and leaded glass.
Features inside the home include 12 foot ornate punched tin ceilings, original oak floors, 6 unique fireplace mantels, a grand center hall with Mahogany stairwell, and hand-painted wallpaper original to the home.
The kitchen and bathrooms have been updated with period fixtures. Canton has been the host to numerous movies: Oh Brother Where Art Thou, My dog Skip, Mississippi Burning, A Time To Kill, and others.
Massage therapy is available on site by appointment only. These services are offered by a licensed, nationally certified therapist who is trained in Swedish, Deep tissue, and Myofascial techniques.
Each room is named after the descendant women that have headed the household. The last descendant, Betsy Street, was born in Mrs. Betsy's room, and lived her life here in the house. Many friends and family of the original family still live in town and have fond memories of riding in the elevator and playing with the frogs in the pond.
